RE2 Tech built a real-time inventory synchronization system between two warehouses and a central ERP for a specialty distributor.
Read the Full StoryTalk to UsA specialty distributor had two physical warehouses in different states and a central ERP. The warehouse management system was a separate application with its own database. Inventory moves inside each warehouse did not reach the ERP until the end of each night, which meant the ERP showed stale numbers all day. Sales reps were quoting product they could not ship and missing product they could ship.
We built a real-time synchronization service that watches the warehouse management system for inventory events and propagates them to the ERP within seconds. The service handles network failures, retries, ordering constraints, and error reporting. It logs every change for audit purposes. When the warehouse WMS is down for maintenance, the service queues updates and replays them when the WMS comes back.
We also built a reconciliation job that runs nightly and compares the two systems end-to-end, flagging any discrepancies for investigation. In the first month it caught and corrected a handful of edge cases that would have otherwise accumulated into real problems.
Inventory accuracy in the ERP is now within seconds of reality. Sales reps quote with confidence. Customer service stopped getting called about shipments that were supposed to be in stock but were not. The client estimates the integration paid for itself in the first four months through reduced customer service hours and recaptured sales.
