Samsung Suggests Regularly Scanning Smart TVs for Malware

Samsung Support USA’s Twitter account recently posted a video tutorial on how to scan your Smart TV for malware and viruses. In the tweet, it mentions that users should be doing this “every few weeks” to prevent malware. The proposal astonished digital security authorities, who said the average user would probably not go through this inconvenience.

This video, for some reason, was deleted after it had gotten more than 200,000 views. Samsung claims that this post was for “customers’ education”.

It is unclear whether Samsung has noticed a serious security threat or not and there have not been any vulnerabilities reported for Samsung TVs recently.
