Microsoft prepares for the worst!

Last month’s WannaCry ransomeware outbreak seemed to be just a warning shot for what is to come. On June 13th, Microsoft released critical security updates to block another wave of attacks. The patches are even available for unsupported systems like Windows XP and Server 2003.

If you are unfamiliar with WannaCry ransomeware, it is malware that attacks your computer and locks all your data. The only way you can access your data is if you pay a ransom. To get rid of it you can wipe your hard drive and reinstall windows as well. But you would lose your data. This is why backups are so important.

This is especially important because for the most part, the older versions are the ones being targeted. It is hard for some businesses to stay up to date with the latest software and updates. Some are still running much older versions of windows, making them extremely vulnerable to a WannaCry attack.

You can find the latest updates in the Microsoft download center. Anyone running an unsupported operating system should definitely look here for updates.
