Microsoft Buys Hexadite to Toughen Windows Security
On Thursday, June 8th, Microsoft said it has agreed to buy Hexadite. Which is a company that incorporates artificial intelligence in it’s responses to cyberthreats.
According to earlier published reports, Microsoft was in talks to buy the firm for $100 million! However the terms of the official agreement have not been released.
This acquisition will help reinforce the company in it’s effort to help commercial windows 10 customers deal with heavily advanced attacks on their networks. As of right now, Microsoft offers Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection to detect things like zero-day attacks, ransomware and other threats. Hexadite will give them more power to build on that.
Terry Myerson, the EVP of the Windows and devices group at Microsoft said,”Our vision is to deliver a new generation of security capabilities that helps our customers protect, detect and respond the the constantly evolving and ever-changing cybersecurity landscape.”
It’s nice to know big companies are doing what they can to increase cybersecurity, in a time where it’s getting harder and harder to keep your data safe.
